Damascus is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, east of Happy Valley. It was incorporated as a city in 2004, but voters approved disincorporation in 2016 and the Oregon Legislature later confirmed that result, so the area is now governed by Clackamas County. The Census Bureau tracks it as a census-designated place.
Damascus has many larger lots and rural residential properties alongside some newer homes. Because land-use rules here come from the county, sellers should describe zoning and lot details carefully and refer buyers to the county for planning questions. Wells and septic systems are present on some, not all, properties.
